UNM Innovation Academy students bring diverse product ideas
The Rainforest Pitch Competition is more competitive than ever before. Students from a variety of majors entered the competition, with ideas ranging from a local kombucha company to an app that helps students choose courses and professors.
“The Rainforest Pitch competition gets better and better each semester,” Innovation Academy’s program manager, Tiffini Porter said. “We love seeing what ideas our students come up with to solve the problems they see in the world.”
The top-10 student pitches move on to the finals, which will be held on Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. The event takes place at Bow and Arrow Brewing Company located at 608 McKnight Ave., NW in downtown Albuquerque. The event will feature live 90-second pitches and winners are picked by both an audience and judge vote.
There is a $5,000 cash prize-pool for winners, and students can use the money to help grow their business ideas.
Many previous pitch competition winners have gone on to create successful companies and are currently operating in the Albuquerque area and beyond.
Come support UNM student entrepreneurs in their quest to turn their ideas into realities.
