The UNM Business and Economic Summits take place to expand our statewide dialogue on ways to grow our New Mexico economy and innovation ecosystem. The goal is to convene stakeholders (public, private and non-profit) from across New Mexico. Recognizing the progress that New Mexico has made to date, the summits envision economic growth in New Mexico. They also build on the various economic development strategies and plans being developed.
UNM Business and Economic Summit: Envisioning New Mexico's Future Entrepreneurial Economy

The 2024 UNM Business and Economic Summit focused on envisioning New Mexico’s future entrepreneurial ecosystem. There were over 220 attendees, both in-person at the Lobo Rainforest and online via Zoom, gathered at the Lobo Rainforest Building to hear seven different talks and panel discussions from local leaders, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders.

The purpose of the 2022 University of New Mexico Business and Economic Summit was to convene around Right to Start. Right to Start is working to expand entrepreneurial opportunity for all and driving civic change through: grassroots organizing and mobilizing, policy advocacy and engagement, and lifting the voices of entrepreneurs through media and storytelling. The day included panel discussions on entrepreneurship in New Mexico and how we can break down barriers and create more opportunity for new, young businesses.
UNM Business and Economic Summit: New Mexico's Statewide Recovery and Long-Term Plan

The purpose of November’s event is to convene around the State of New Mexico’s Economic Development Department Statewide Strategic Plan. This strategy provides concrete actions plans for economic diversification away from the State’s current dependence on the oil and gas sector, retail, and public sectors which can inform legislative and infrastructure strategies. The day will include panels discussing how the state is collaborating to move the economic agenda forward.

The January 2021 UNM Business and Economic Summit, themed, “New Mexico 2030,” convened stakeholders (public, private and non-profit) from across New Mexico to continue a statewide dialogue on ways to grow our New Mexico economy. Recognizing the progress that the state has made to date, the Summit envisioned economic growth in New Mexico and built on New Mexico Chamber of Commerce’s strategic plan “Driving New Mexico’s Future: Empowering a Competitive Economy in a Post-Pandemic World.”
