On August 30, UNM Rainforest Innovations hosted a technology and startup showcase with the New Angels. Four researchers and inventors from the University of New Mexico were invited to pitch their innovations to an audience of investors, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community members. After each presentation there was 5-minutes of Q&A from the audience.
The New Mexico Angels invests in innovation and their mission is to provide opportunities where its members can obtain outstanding financial returns by investing in early-stage companies in the southwest region and accelerate them to market leadership.
The technology presentations included:
- Contactless Chemipattern: A new way to control chemistry, by Jonathan Hebert, Ph.D., Founder and CEO, Lojo Engineering, LLC
- Lower extremity guided and assisted rehabilitation device (LEGARD), by Elias Rosales-Zaragoza, UNM student, Mechanical Engineering
- Medical Solutions – Mechanical Patient Controlled Analgesia device, by Dharish Totiger, Business and Information Security, UNM, Mark Niederhaus, Business, UNM, Telluride Medical Solutions
- Silicon Carbide Nanosheets Technology, LLC, presented by Sakineh Chabi, Ph.D.
A new partnership has also been formed between the New Mexico Angels and UNM Rainforest Innovations. In exchange for a summit-level sponsorship, the New Mexico Angels will have a one-year lease for an office space at the Lobo Rainforest Building’s Joseph L. Cecchi VentureLab (CVL). The CVL’s incubator provides shared office facilities, business services, mentoring, and advice.
