Local nanoparticle-based dental health technology startup MNT SmartSolutions welcomes two new members to their executive team. The two brothers, backed by years of professional dentistry experience and co-founders of Prime Dentistry in the metro Detroit area, join the company as it prepares its technology for the market. Ali Saad, PhD, will serve as the CEO and Mohamed Saad, PhD will serve as COO.
MNT SmartSolutions is developing novel materials effective in treating periodontal disease and gingivitis. Their nanotechnology-based toothbrush and toothpaste solution reaches bacteria beneath the gum line in a non-invasive and ecofriendly application. The technology also has potential applications as a topical and internal anti-bacterial treatment for wounds, abrasions, and other applications in which antimicrobial action is sought.
The technology is from the University of New Mexico in collaboration with inventors affiliated with the University of Texas, Austin, and Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. Inventors of these inventions include Marek Osinski, Hugh Smyth, Lesha Armijo, Hennaka Mudiyanselage Herath Nihal Bandara and Shayna McGill.
