The New Mexico Bioscience Authority (NMBSA), established in 2017, is the state’s first public-private partnership, involving government, research institutions, national labs, and private companies. Its mission is to foster collaboration among universities, entrepreneurs, and funders to grow the bioscience sector in New Mexico. This industry is expanding rapidly, with wages significantly above the U.S. average and encompass a wide range of technologies and markets related to life sciences. Through strategic funding, community outreach and policy recommendations, the NMBSA aims to create cohesive strategies to bring biotechnology to market, generate high-paying jobs, and strengthen the economy in New Mexico.
