Since its inception in 1995, UNM Rainforest Innovations has fostered the development of nearly 170 startup companies commercializing University of New Mexico (UNM) technologies. Its role is to protect and commercialize technologies developed at UNM by filing patents, copyrights, and trademarks and transferring those technologies to the marketing. Jacob Maranda with New Mexico Inno recently released an article featuring UNM Rainforest Innovations and the work it does to support local startups, many of which have gone on to create valuable products and services.
