Under the leadership of Assistant Professor Fernando Moreu from the UNM Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering, the UNM Smart Management of Infrastructure Laboratory (SMILab) (http://smilab.unm.edu/) is collaborating with Sandia Peak Tramway to collect data using a low-cost wireless sensing platform that tests the structural health of industrial buildings, transportation systems, and other infrastructure systems. Dr. Moreu and his team at the lab are developing next-generation smart sensing technologies and strategies towards safer, cost-effective, resilient and sustainable structures.
